Wellbeing and recovery drop-ins have begun in Hexham and Prudhoe.
Talking Matters Northumberland are using a community asset based approach to build on groups which are already up and running and can utilise the skills of their members. They focus on mental health but welcome anyone along to these groups, which also aim to reduce isolation and improve wellbeing. The drop-ins are the starting point for growth within the community and they hope to build many support networks over the next few years.
Wellbeing and Recovery groups are weekly in Prudhoe and Hexham.
Sessions include: arts and crafts; music; mindfulness; skill sharing and an opportunity for people to begin activities they are interested in. They also offer personal one to one sessions with a Recovery Clinician or coach. This supports a wide range of problems caused by anxiety, panic, low mood etc.
They look at ways to improve wellbeing such as sleep hygiene, routine, social inclusion, diet and explore individual skills. They keep up to date with local community events to signpost people to events or activities that may improve their support network.
